Welcome to Cottonwood Elementary!!

Grades K-2

Cottonwood Elementary School was completed in August, 2000. We are a kindergarten through second grade building. We also have Early Childhood Special Education Preschool and EMH Level I. Average number of students is approximately 450-500. We have eight classes of all day kindergarten, six first grade classes, and six second grade classes.

With foster grandparents, paraprofessionals, aides, teachers and office staff, we number around 80 people.

Students have adjusted to the routines at school very well. We want to thank our parents for all their support in getting our school year off to a great start.

Monday, September 7, 2009 - No school due to Labor Day

Tuesday, September 8 - Friday, September 11, 2009 - Book Fair and Grandparents' Week

Grandparents are invited to eat lunch with their grandchildren with the following days specified:

Tuesday, September 8, 2009 - 4 classes of K: Smail, Cash, Cole, Johnson

Wednesday, September 9, 2009 - 1st grade

Thursday, September 10, 2009 - 2nd grade

Friday, September 11, 2009 - 4 classes of K: Nash, Herron, Anderson, Heck

Cottonwood Book Fair week of Sept. 8, 2009

On Sunday, September 20, 2009, Beth Slawson, Title I and Reading Recovery teacher will be honored at the Region 2 Kansas Teacher of the Year Banquet in Topeka, KS. We all wish Mrs. Slawson the best of luck and know she will represent our district well as the district's elementary teacher of the year.

Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. will be our Watch D.O.G.S. pizza night and kick off for sign-up. Dads and their children will be invited for pizza and will receive information about this program. Dads can volunteer to spend the day helping out at our school. Sign-ups for the program will be that evening.
